Professor Wolfgang Längsfeld

Born March 13, 1937 in Kreuzburg in Upper Silesia (today Kluczbork in Poland), while his father was still at war at the time, he was expelled and fled from Silesia to Germany together with his mother and brother. His father later worked as a teacher again. Wolfgang Längsfeld grew up in 'Alfeld an der Leine' where he attended High School.

 

He studied in Göttingen/Germany and from 1968 to 1972 at the 'University of Television and Film' in Munich.

 

First marriage to Margarethe Längsfeld, two daughters.

 

From 1978 to 2002 he was a professor at the HFF as

Head of the Feature Film and Television Feature (Dept. III).

 

From 1992 to 1999 he served as Vice President of the

University of Television and Film Munich.

 

Professor Wolfgang Längsfeld was the founder of the International Festival of Film Schools in Munich and the artistic director of the festival from 1981 to 2002. The festival quickly became one of the most important young talent film festivals in the world.

 

From 1990 he was also co-head of the screenwriter workshop in Munich

 

From 1993 to 2001 he served as vice president of the

INTERNATIONAL Association of Film Schools (CILECT).

 

Second marriage to Susanne Längfeld.

 

Died on February 13, 2012 in Irschenberg in Bavaria.
